Quinn\u2019s POV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My nails bit into my palms as I stood across the room, watching the scene unfold. I couldn\u2019t believe what I was seeing. Couldn\u2019t comprehend it. Couldn\u2019t understand it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That woman. Where were her boundaries?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her arms were draped all over him like ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that laugh? Could she be more obvious? Sure, he was funny\u2014but not that<\/em> funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How was he not seeing what she was doing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But he was playing into her game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He wrapped his arm around her waist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaned in close to speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And his eyes? Was that a sparkle?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why was he smiling at her like that? That was my<\/em> smile. The one he usually reserved for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No. This was not going to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corrine was not going to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took a couple of calming breaths and began my deliberate march across the room. I was going to put an end to whatever game Corrine thought she was playing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miles\u2019 POV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMiles. That was amazing,\u201d Corrine said as she wrapped herself around me. Her arms threaded through mine, her body pressed entirely too close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is she always touching me?<\/em> I leaned away, trying to escape her grasp. But that only made her hold on tighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d told her more than once that this wasn\u2019t going to happen. What was that saying\u2014wrong tree, same forest? Different forest? Whatever. I had Quinn. No one else could compare. She was the sun in my sky, the brightest star in my darkest night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just the thought of her made me smile. I could feel the warmth climb up my skin to my face and eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMiles?\u201d Corrine tugged on my arm. \u201cAre you even listening?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Had she been talking to me? My thoughts had been on Quinn, as they always were. \u201cSorry,\u201d I said, leaning down to whisper in her ear. \u201cIt\u2019s loud in here. What did you say?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI said you were amazing tonight. I think tonight was your best performance yet.\u201d She rubbed her hands up and down my chest as she spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where is Quinn when I need her?<\/em> Just as I thought that, I looked up\u2014and there she was. Marching toward us with a look on her face that could skin a cat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I knew that look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d seen it directed at others. But never at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wasn\u2019t supposed to be happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not with everything I had planned for my next night off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was supposed to be the beginning of forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
