As soon as I walk through the front door. Before I\u2019ve even taken my coat off. Can\u2019t you at least put the kettle on?\u201d Julie put her overnight bag down, shook her umbrella out the porch door and stood it in corner. She removed her coat and sat by the kitchen table. <br \/><br \/>\u201cSorry love, I just don\u2019t like to see you hurting.\u201d  <br \/><br \/>\u201cI can assure you; me and Brian are fine. He wants me to have a career. Julie is beginning to regret coming home for the night but it\u2019s always nice to see her dad. <br \/><br \/>How\u2019s the course going? \u201cMam fills the kettle, whilst quietly muttering and nodding in agreement with herself.  <br \/><br \/>\u201cNot so bad, for my first week, students seem a nice bunch. Oh, and the other new tutor started, I think his names Mr Evans. Looks young enough to be a student.\u201d <br \/><br \/>\u201cIs he married\u201d Mam jumps in. <br \/><br \/>\u201cNot exactly an introductory question. This week has been a big step for me and all you want to do is marry me off to the first colleague I meet.  <br \/><br \/>\u201cOkay what does he teach?\u201d Mam asks as she plonks a packet of Cheese Snap biscuits on the table. <br \/><br \/>\u201cNot sure. We only gave a nod in passing.\u201d Julie laughs as she adds. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t have noticed him, but for his crease-less case and checkered tie.\u201d which Mam didn\u2019t seem to find as funny. <br \/><br \/>\u201cSounds more than a nod to me. Teaching staff dress too casual for my liking.<br \/>Brian could do with wearing a tie. Overalls don&#8217;t take you take you far in this life. Tea love?\u201d Mam puts the teapot on the table. <br \/><br \/>\u201cTies and machinery don\u2019t go Mam.\u201d Julie smiles knowing full well what Mam has in store for Brian this Christmas. <br \/><br \/>What time will Dad be in? Can\u2019t wait to tell him all about my week.\u201d <br \/><br \/>\u201cYou won\u2019t see your father I\u2019ve sent him over to Nan\u2019s from work. She needs a wardrobe moved.\u201d Mams eyes glistened as she spoke. \u201cHe\u2019ll be back in time for lunch tomorrow.  We can have a catch up and you can tell me all about this Mr Evans.\u201d <br \/><br \/>\u201cYou knew I had to get the early train back in the morning.
