Pain, lots of pain flashing through his body.
Pain normally came in a long rush, telling him where the issues on his body were, that you messed up and now there is a need for him to seek out help, maybe, just maybe call it a day and go see the maker and plead his case for a new life on Earth or whatever planet he ended up on.
No, I’m not dead he thought, the smooth feeling of cloth, sheets…a blanket?
Where am I?
He tried opening his eyes. Nope, that wasn’t going to happen. The permeating darkness drove him deeper into despair and his mind began drifting too past days, lost years, times of fun and anguish, a small time where love began and sharply ended.
Bethany…evil and sexy, harsh yet wanting.
His mind lit up, an open field where he was running, holding hands with a woman who he thought would be his. Their laughter drifting up into the open crisp August, no December sky, then warm kisses amidst a short tumble to the ground.
Another scene, this time happy laughs seeing this lush, brunet hair and her shapely figure pressed close to his body, warmth or remembered warmth as they talked, drank, connected…a happy time.
Where am I?
He felt a tug, his arm. Something, pulled on him, was that a voice he heard just now?
Images passed again, this time of a darker tone.
How could she do that to me?
Eyes locked upon a couple walking steadily down a long aisle, patrons smiling and clapping as Bethany, his Bethany, linked arm in arm with another person. Teddy or Theo, or…what was his name?
Money, he had money and influence, something any woman would go after if presented to him.
But she was mine!
Another shift, his body being moved around, then a cold prick sent something warm through his body. He thought he could recall something, how he was driving now, along a road. Yes, a road dark and windswept, trees swaying beneath a dark grey sky. There came lights, was it lightening, a remembered crack of thunder and then as fast as the lightening a swirling cloud churning up dust and debris…coming his way.
Move!
Move you idiot!
“Richard?”
That voice. I know that voice, I’ve heard it before. Sweet, caring—
“Richard, Richard…say something. Please say something.”
No, this can’t be, it can’t be. I lost you; I heard your cruel voice as you told me to go. Lust over true love, power over—
“Richard, it’s me, Bethany. Can you hear me?”
Oh no…I’m in Hell…
