A Beautiful Day

If anything, it was a beautiful day for a walk. I pulled my SUV into a spot and looked over the blue lake. A paved walking trail circled it and was surrounded by pine trees and aspens. Mountains jutted up behind it for a picturesque relaxing view. I wished I had my camera. I’ll have to remember to come back here when I have it.

I grabbed the door handle but stopped and ran it over the beaded sleek white satin of my dress. I can’t go walking in this, especially not in these shoes, scrunching my toes up. I’ll stick out like a sore thumb. With much difficulty, I maneuvered my way into the back seat. Mentally patting myself on the back for packing my suitcase so thoroughly, even if it was last minute packing.

I reached my hand to grab the zipper, but it was out of reach. I tried my other hand and from other angles, but it was not happening.

I jumped and banged my head at the sound of a knock on my car window. I ungracefully flopped over to see an attractive bearded man. I just stared. I couldn’t speak. It was like my brain just froze up. His dark hair and blue eyes were mesmerizing and vaguely familiar.

“Can I help you?” His gruff voice sounded annoyed.

I turned with my back to the window and reached my hand to the switch. I couldn’t let him see me with my mascara running down my face.

“Can you unzip me please?” I asked through the slightly open window.
