lesson one

The bustling pub was crowded with young folks, the waiter tip toed around tables, saving their trays full of glasses and crockeries as the customers were pulling and throwing each other in inebriated state. A young gentleman must be in his late twenties dressed in a rather dressy shirt was muttering something in the ears of a petit beauty and she kept laughing with her hands over her mouth and kept fixing her bangs on her face.
Sujoy was fixated on them, now leaning on to their table and gaping at them with his squinty little eyes. He was wondering what he could be telling her that is bringing out such colour on her face. He did not care what his friends at the table thought of him or anybody in the pub for that matter, however it is another matter that by now he was down with five pints of beer. It was their usual table in the corner with the best view of the dance floor, he and his friends like every Saturday evening dressed their best and play pool and get drunk and hype each other to score a date. By the end of the evening all of them are smashed, made half of the crowd their sworn enemies and sing their way to their homes. Sujoy lived the farthest and he was like usual the last to reach home. All the walking and the fresh air brought him back to his senses, so much so that he could climb the steps without falling. He lifted the flowerpot on the doorstep and searched for the keys, but they were not there. He shook his head and searched the flowerpot again but in vain. He noticed that the door was ajar, shocked, he moved away from the house and frantically searched for something on the road. He quickly grabbed a brick from the side of the road and headed towards the door, all while thinking that he should call someone first. He entered the house quietly to find the television on in the drawing room, he tip toed to other rooms to find the thief. He entered his room and swiftly switched on the lights but there was no one there, he checked under the bed and then the washroom, but no sign of anybody. Everything was untouched and in its original place. Perplexed, as he stepped out, he heard a light thud from the kitchen, and he rushed to the kitchen to find a glass of water placed on the counter. A woman in a red dress stood, facing the fridge, the light of the fridge silhouetting her. Sujoy was shocked and in a very feeble voice asked who she was and what does she want. She stood still for a few seconds before turning towards him and said “Just a drink” and smiled.
