“Get the car ready; we are leaving for Delhi,” Mr. Kapoor told his driver, Ali.
“Yes, Boss, right away. Where in Delhi? Head office?’
“No, Chanakya Puri.”
“It’s a residential locality; I know the place.”
“Hmmm, it is not really a private visit; my daughter works for the revenue department.”
“Oh, I see.”
“..and currently we need favours from that department more than anything else.”
“Of course.”
“It won’t hurt to maintain good relations with their staff even if this one happens to be my daughter.”
“I understand,” said Ali.
This left me wanting more. : )
Thank you, Kate. I always try to base my writing on real-life experiences from the past. There is a saying, ‘One lies the loudest when lying to oneself.’ The above is an example based on having met people who are in a constant struggle to maintain a clean public image. Thanks for your feedback.
