Jareth arrived at the Inn in mid afternoon. The sun’s rays beat down on the dirt road he was glad to get under the roof of the porch. He wasn’t sure why he agreed to delivery this message in the first place. Thomas should deliver his own messages but he did agree and now he needed to follow through with it.
He wen entered the inn and looked around. The place was almost deserted. Only a few people sat at tables in corner of the room. He knew that Leeza worked at the inn that her parents owned. Hopefully she was working today so that he could get this task over with. He felt a little stupid.
Then he saw her. She was coming out of the kitchen carrying a platter with drinks and two plates of food. The atmosphere of the room changed when she entered. It was lighter and brighter. Was that even possible? She wore a plain green dress tied around the middle with a yellow belt. Her long blond hair which she usually kept tied up in a braid was down and flowed around her shoulders. She noticed him standing at the entrance and smiles. He held up one hand indicating him to wait for her.
After delivering the food to the customers, she came over to meet him. She seemed to glide across the floor. As she approached he smelled lavender. It was intoxicating.
“Jareth! Hi, how are you doing?” she said.
“I’m good thanks. How is your day going? It is hot out today.”
“Yes, it is but thankfully it isnt too bad in here yet. What brings you here?”
Her blue eyes made his heart skip a beat when she looked at him. She was Thomas’ girlfriend, he should think of her that way.
“Ah…Thomas. He asked me to bring this to you.” handing her her a folded piece of paper. Not sure why he didn’t bring it himself.”
She reached out to take the paper and her fingers touched his hand. It was electric. He wanted to hold on to her touch and feel the softness of her hands. He felt flush. He had to make this quick before he embarrassed himself.
“Okay i should get going.”
“Thanks for stopping by, I love seeing you.” She leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
He thought he might melt and not from the heat.
