“Hey, Rhonda,” Paul called as he caught up to her outside the lecture hall. Her swaying, sensuous stride made her easy to spot as other students hurried past. She stopped and turned, her long black hair swinging past the strap of her tank top. Paul was momentarily tongue-tied as he watched it glide across the glowing flesh of her shoulder.
Recognition appeared in her dark eyes, long lashes covering them as she blinked. “Paul?” She ran her eyes up and down his trim body. “Richard’s friend, right?” She relaxed her posture. “What’s up?”
Paul swallowed the saliva in his mouth before speaking. “I have a message from Richard.” He felt he lingered too long on her lovely face and lowered his gaze to her sandaled toes adorned in red polish. Raising his eyes again, he hoped he wasn’t too obvious as he took in her soft curves. I’d love to sit across from her. Eating, talking, laughing, conspiring….I’d probably bluster… Like now.
“A message from Richard?” she asked, tilting her head.
“Oh yeah. He’s going to be an hour late.” He adjusted the bag on his back. “He says he’ll meet you there.” Her hips noticably shifted as she put her weight over one foot.
Another student nearly walked into Paul. “Sorry,” he said, not stopping. The enchantment was broken. The sounds and sights of the campus returned.
Rhonda glanced at the textbook in her hand. “I’ll just go and wait for him… get some studying done.” She smiled. “Thanks for letting me know.” She turned and moved away with measured steps as lyrics sang softly in Paul’s head. Paul watched her image get smaller and lamented not meeting her before his friend Richard had.
After several steps, he rushed beside her. “Would you like some company?”
