Oh no, not another of his latest conquest again. Why does he keep bringing random girls back saying she is ‘the one’?
But this time, he didn’t have the awkward, unsure smile anymore. Her hands held his firmly and he smiled like an idiot. Her perfume wasn’t too strong to mask and odour nor too sweet to fake a different persona. It was refreshing and balanced. She looked modest with her cardinal dress, adorned with a little gold here and there. Her hands were soft and nails polished properly. But her heels, her heels are classy. Altogether it made her looked modest, sexy and strong. At least in appearance. Why was my boy still smiling like an idiot? Oh, that satisfied smiles on both of their faces. A little red rush on her cheeks and they have that little disheveled hair. Naughty boy just opened another cookie jar huh?
I went to shake their hands. What is Elara going to say about this? I’m sure my wife is going to love her but first, papa bear needs to test her. See if she is right for him. Other than being able to earn and having a kind heart. He is a clutz. But from the way she stole glances at him outside our family owned restaurant, I think she liked him this time. The rest of girls he brought back, couldn’t reach our target. And I hope my son didn’t tell her that he is rich just modest like what I told him last month. To prevent gold diggers again. Still, I liked the way he looked back at her when he thought we didn’t notice it. Something special, this time?

I really love what you’ve done here. I love how the piece opens in skepticism and, detail by detail, lets the narrator soften—shifting into curiosity, then quiet concern. That emotional progression feels very natural and earned.
The moment you introduce “papa bear”, makes me smile immediately. That single phrase does a huge amount of character work: it establishes protectiveness, humor, and values all at once, without explanation. The writing reveals not just the girlfriend, but also the son and the narrator himself. It has a lovely panoramic quality—everyone present is sketched through observation rather than exposition.
What I especially appreciate is the restrained intimacy of the tone. Values are revealed through how appearance is noticed and interpreted, not judged outright, which gives the piece maturity and emotional intelligence.
From a craft perspective, the verb tenses drift a bit throughout. I think the flow would feel smoother with a more consistent tense choice—this reads like an early draft where voice was prioritized over polish, which is absolutely fine at this stage. In later fine-tuning, small edits like tightening tense consistency and removing typos (e.g. the double “is is”) will really let the writing shine.
Overall, this is warm, observant, and character-rich. The intimacy feels earned, the values feel grounded, and the perspective is clear. I genuinely enjoy being inside this narrator’s head.
