Nancy studied the room carefully, seeing a dozen people standing, holding drinks and chatting fervently at the party. Celebrating Max’s brother’s birthday with balloons, stacked presents, cake being cut and handed out. Caleb is twenty-seven today. There, behind the balloons, Estelle was with Nancy’s boyfriend Max, sitting together on the couch, “Again, bitch!” she thought. “The third time in the past week, I thought she was my friend.
