Lesson 15
Fate
Julie let herself into Tony’s small bedsit. She pulled off her shoulder bag as she closed the door behind her and took off her suede knee length coat. in one full sweep.
“Come as yourself why don’t you.” Tony said as he swung his bare feet off the sofa.
“I can’t wait to show you what I found while out shopping, “
“Let me guess, another must have handbag.”
Julie fished out a glossy leaflet from her bag and held it up in front of her like a well-earned certificate.
Tony sat up straighter “A festival. Where we off?”
“No more partying for us. Welcome to adult hood.”
“No, you’re okay. I’ll give that one a miss.”
“When me and Sian were passing the estate agents. It just jumped out of me. It must be fate. Our destiny.” Julie hugged the leaflet against her chest. “The apartments huge and you can see over the bay.”
“Phew that’s okay then. For a minute I thought you had me in mind for a move.” Tony let out a deep whistling breath.
“Well, it was me and you I had in mind for sharing. But if you would rather stay in this rabbit coop. Julie stuffed the leaflet back in her handbag.
“I’m sure it’s a lovely apartment. But I like my own space Julie, and we do work opposite shifts.”
“That would give me time to make your packed lunch.” Julie again reached into her bag for the leaflet.” Oh look, it’s all creased.
“It must be a sign. Shows we are not ready to take such a big step.”
“Promise me we will be soon, won’t we?”
“Yes Julie. I promise.”
